As we welcome you back, please note that due to the restrictions governing the number of people we can host in our libraries, you will be able to enter the Library for the following services:

  • To access a computer, print or scan
  • To use WIFI or a study table
  • To collect or borrow items
  • Browsing the collection and some other services are restricted. Please reserve items for pick-up or the staff will be able to assist you when you visit

We will continue to provide a range of online services to our members, including the Click and Collect service, the Home Library Service and the Brimbank residents Library to Your Door Service.

Measures to protect public health

Please do not visit the Library if you, or a person you are in close contact with, are unwell.

In line with government directives, only one customer is permitted in the Library building for every 4m2 at a time. When the Library has reached capacity, customers waiting to enter will be required to queue outside the Library. There are limited undercover areas outside the Library, so please prepare appropriately for standing outside in the weather.

All Library patrons and staff are expected to practice social distancing and hygiene etiquette at all times. Staff and patrons have access to hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities in the bathrooms. All visitors must use hand sanitiser as they enter and are encouraged to wash / sanitise their hands regularly. All surfaces in the Library are regularly cleaned, and contact points on computers and printers are cleaned after each person.

Although these precautions minimise the risk for customers and staff, if you are concerned about the risk please do not visit the Library. For residents who cannot visit the library or are self-isolating, the Library to Your Door delivery service is available.

Click and Collect Reservations

If you have received a notification that an item you have requested is available, telephone the Library between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, to arrange collection at any Brimbank library within seven days of receiving the notification. For residents who are self-isolating or do not wish to visit the library during COVID-19 restrictions the Library to Your Door service is available.

Not sure what you want, call your closest library and have a chat to our friendly and knowledgeable staff about your interests - we will search our shelves and find something for you.

Items will be delivered to your door at no charge.

If you are not a library member, you can join online. Library membership is free.

Returning items
All returns are via the 24/7 returns chute. Items currently on loan have been extended until January 2, 2021.

You can continue to access our range of eResources online. We have a wide range of books, magazines, newspapers and more, all available from your computer or device free with your Library membership. Visit the eResources page for a full list.

Browsing the Collection

Browsing is available, however some collections are restricted, including newspapers and magazines, and collections on level 1 at Sunshine Library. Please ask one of the staff to assist you or reserve items for a Click and Collect service.

Toys are able to be borrowed.

Quarantining Collections

Brimbank Libraries is not quarantining or cleaning items when they are returned to the Library.

The Libraries continue to undertake increased cleaning and sanitisation in the space as well as ask customers and staff to sanitise their hands during their visit. Due to the way a library operates, with items being available for customers to browse and return to the shelves, it is not possible to continually re-clean books that may have been touched by customers. This makes cleaning or quarantining returned items redundant.

Newspapers have been removed from circulation for now.

Meeting room bookings and Study Booths

No bookings will be taken until further notice

We are now cashless. All payments can be made with EFTPOS
