Library to Your Door Service
Library to Your Door delivery service-1 April
In response to the closure of library branches due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brimbank Libraries are offering a home delivery service to all residents of Brimbank who are also a Brimbank Libraries member. We will deliver them to your home – while maintaining safe social distancing practices. Simply reserve your items, choose your Pickup location as the branch closest to your home address. When you receive notification that your items are available, call that branch to arrange delivery. Not sure what you want, call your closest library and have a chat to our friendly and knowledgeable staff about your interests - we will search our shelves and find something for you. While you are waiting for your items to arrive there is a wealth of material available in our eResource Collection
Items will be delivered to your door at no charge.
If you are not a library member, you can join online. Library membership is free.
How many items can I borrow?
In the interests of ensuring fair distribution of our library collections across as many households as we can service there card limit a limit of 40 items.
Can I choose the items I receive?
We encourage you to browse the library catalogue to place reservations on specific titles that you would like to borrow, setting the pick-up location as the branch closest to your home address.
If you are not sure of what you want call your closest branch to register your interest in the Library to Your Door selection service. A library staff member will discuss your reading and viewing preferences and will select a range of items from the collection they think you will enjoy.
We will do our best to satisfy preferences and specific requests, however, we hope you will be understanding in that we may be unable to secure any or all reservations in line with your delivery.
How long can I have the items for? What do I do when I’m finished with the items?
Standard loan periods for library items have been suspended at this time. Items will be loaned until 1 July or until the branches of Brimbank Libraries reopen (whichever is later).
Library items WILL NOT be collected from residences. Items can be returned to any branch of Brimbank Libraries (return chutes remain open) on or before the due date.
How frequently can I get a delivery?
We can offer each cardholder one delivery per calendar month (e.g. one delivery during April, one delivery during May). The Library to Your Door delivery service will cease operating once library branches re-open.
Who can access this service?
The delivery service is available to all Brimbank Libraries members who are also residents of the City of Brimbank.
How do I sign up?
If you are a Brimbank resident interested in receiving deliveries please reserve your items or call your closest branch to arrange the selection service between 9am and 5pm, Monday-Friday.
