Fighting Food Waste Workshops : Intro to Fermentation

Want to know how to preserve your summer harvest? Or how to reduce food waste and save on shopping bills? In this four week workshop series, Anna the Urban Nanna will share traditional skills for the modern-day world.
From the garden to the kitchen, find out about living a more sustainable lifestyle and adopting zero-waste principles in everyday life. Join ‘Nanna’ Anna to learn about preserving food with fermentation and dehydration, 'scraptastic' cooking, and growing your own food using sustainable no-dig principles.
Week 1: Intro to Fermentation (hands-on workshop)
A walk through some of the simplest and most effective ways to preserve food by fermentation when it’s growing in seasonal abundance. Includes a display of useful books and resources, and students will make sauerkraut and fermented vegetable sticks to take home with them.
Tea, coffee and food tastings provided.
