Tinker to Learn & Earn

     

Do you have an idea or a hobby you would like to turn into a micro-business?

Using a tool like Tinker 3D can help you discover what is possible.  If you are interested in 3D printing, then join artist and educator Eric Jong in this four part online workshop series.

 
 
Session 1:  Discover what 3d printing is and how it is being used in the arts, science and medical fields by researchers.  Learn about the processes of 3d printing and create your first 3D printable design with the free online program TinckerCAD in only 1 hour!
 
Session 2:  Learn how to process your 3d printing design for printing with the ‘slicer’ programs PrusaSlicer and Makerbot Print.  We will cover both digital considerations like orientation, supports and scaling for your print as well as physical considerations like materials, surface finishing and hardware.
 
Session 3: This session is an introduction to using Rhino3d, a staple of engineering and design as a precision CAD program.  As an industry standard Rhino3D sits at the centre of an ecology of tools than can expand your 3dPrinting workflow.
 
Session 4:  This session will explore the alternative workflows of photogrammetry, 3d scanning, radiography, motion capture and AI interpolation and for 3d modelling.  We will cover how to get started with these workflows and what tools you will need.  You will also learn how to use the free open-source programs Meshmixer to address some problems common to these workflows.
 
Spaces are limited.  Bookings Essential. This program is for Adults 18+ and will be delivered via Zoom You only need to register once to attend all 4 sessions.
 
You will need your own computer and a reliable internet connection to participate in these sessions.
 
Software to be used is free and participants can set up a 90 day free trial to use online.
 
Each participant will be able to have one of their designs 3D printed free of charge.
