Library membership is open to everyone at no charge.
You can join at any of our five libraries or online (see across).
To become a member, show current proof of address (including photo ID) and provide either a mobile phone number or email address.
If you are under 18 years of age, a guarantor is required to authorise membership. The guarantor is responsible for all items borrowed and use of library facilities including computers. Young people under 18 years living independently are able to join the library. Please speak to a staff member.
Please notify library staff of any change to name, address or contact details.
Borrowing and Loan Limits
You may borrow up to 30 items on your library card:
Books, kits and audio books - 28 days
CDs and DVDs - 14 days (limit of 10 DVDs)
Magazines - 7 days
WII games -4 days (limit of 10)
Playstation games -7 days (limit of 1)
Toys - 14 days (limit of 2 toys)
Items can be returned to any Brimbank library during opening hours or through the after-hours chute.
Fees and Charges
If an item is returned late, an overdue charge of $0.20 will apply for each day. To avoid charges please renew your items or return them by the due date.
- If you have $15.00 or more in charges on your card you will not be able to borrow or use a library computer until this is paid
- Item/s damaged or lost will attract a fee
Most items can be renewed and this can be done in person, on the phone or over the internet. Items can be renewed twice. Items that are reserved cannot be renewed.
Items can be reserved either by phone, at the library or via our Online Library.
Items will be held for seven days. You will be notified via text or email when the item is ready for collection.
You are welcome to request an item if it isn’t in our existing collection. If an item is borrowed from another library service, a fee will apply.
