Brimbank Libraries offers a range of computer classes - whether you are an absolute beginner or looking to improve your skills, you are sure to find something that interests you.  

All our classes (except Introduction to Email) run for 2 hours and you will receive a manual to take home.

 

Bookings are required for all classes and payment is required when you book. Bookings must be made in person, and you can book at any Brimbank Library.

Classes cost $10 or $5 for concession except:

  • Introduction to Photoshop classes are $20 or $10 concession as they run over 2 weeks.
  • Introduction to Email classes are $5 or $2.50 concession as it runs for one hour.
  • There is no charge for the Cyber Seniors Computer Group or Drop In Resume Help sessions.

Basic Classes

Our basic classes are ideal if you have no prior experience with computers.

Basic Computer Skills

For absolute beginners.  Learn how to use the mouse and keyboard, how to create and save documents and how to use Windows.

Basic Internet

Learn how to search the internet and navigate between web pages. You will also learn about internet security and how to save pictures and files from the web.

Introduction to Email

Learn how to write and send emails, add attachments and how to organise your inbox. Classes run for one hour and costs $5 or $2.50 concession. Please have a Yahoo mail account set up prior to attending the class. Library staff are available to assist you.

Introduction to Excel

Learn how to build a spreadsheet, add formulas and use cell references.


Introductory Specialist Classes

Specialist classes are introductory lessons for specific computer and internet applications. You should already have the skills from the Basic Computer Skills and Basic Internet classes before enrolment.

Introduction to eBay

Learn how to buy and sell goods online safely with eBay. To book into this class you need to have an eBay and PayPal account. Bring your PayPal password.

Introduction to Photoshop

Make your ordinary photos extraordinary with Adobe Photoshop. Learn to crop, retouch, remove blemishes and fix discoloration. This class costs $20 or $10 concession as it runs over 2 weeks.

Introduction to PowerPoint

Learn how to create and share high impact presentations.

Introduction to Web Design

Create a website using a free online program. Great for small businesses, community groups and for people who are self employed.

Sharing Photos using Social Media

Learn how to upload and share photos with family and friends

Introduction to Facebook

Get connected with friends and family safely using social media such as facebook.

Cyber Seniors Computer Group

Open to all seniors interested in learning more about computers in an informal setting. A basic understanding of how to use a computer is required.

Sunshine: Second wednesday of the month, 11am - 12pm
Sydenham: Last Wednesday of the month, 11am - 12pm

Drop in Resume Help

Open to anyone who needs basic advice and helpful tips on how to present their resume. Bring in your current resume for formatting tips, assistance with saving it to disk for future editing, adding it as an attachment to an e-mail or uploading it to an online job site.

St Albans: Tuesdays, 2 - 4pm
