Becoming a Library Member
Library membership is open to everyone at no charge. You need to show current proof of address to get a library card.
You may join at any of our 5 libraries in person or through this online form.
If you are under 18 years of age, a guarantor will usually be required to authorise a membership. The guarantor is responsible for all items borrowed and use of library facilities including computers.
You need to have your library card to borrow, renew or reserve items and to use a computer in the library.
Please notify library staff of any change to name, address or contact details.
Borrowing and Loan Limits
You may borrow up to 30 items on your library card.
- Books, kits and audio books can be borrowed for 28 days
- CDs and DVDs can be borrowed for 14 days (limit of 10 DVDs)
- Magazines can be borrowed for 7 days
- Wii games can be borrowed for 7 days (limit of 1 game)
- Toys can be borrowed for 14 days (limit of 2 toys)
Renewals and Reservations
All items may be renewed twice with the exception of any items that have been reserved. Toys and magazines may not be renewed.
If you wish to borrow an item that is out on loan, you can reserve it at no cost. The item will be held for you for 7 days.
You may renew/reserve your items in person at any Brimbank library, over the phone, or on this website.

Returning Your Library Items
Library items may be returned at any Brimbank library. All libraries have after hours return chutes.
Express Station returns are available in the libraries. You can use the Express Stations to return your items yourself so that you can begin borrowing again immediately.

Fees and Charges
If an item is returned late, an overdue charge of $0.20 will apply for each day. To avoid charges please renew your items or return them by the due date.
If you have $15.00 or more in charges on your card you will not be able to borrow or use a computer. Item/s damaged or lost will attract either a repair charge or the full replacement cost of the item.
A replacement fee of $2.60 is charged for lost library cards.
